Over the past couple of years, the term CBD has become widely known and covered extensively in the media. But for many of us, there is still uncertainty about what it is.
CBD is short for cannabidiol, and its one of the active ingredients found in hemp and cannabis (marijuana). It’s a naturally occurring product and is being used in everything from gummies and oils, to creams and vapes. The main thing to note with CBD is that unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), it isn’t psychoactive… so CBD won’t get you high. CBD History
The relationship between mankind and CBD has long history. People have been using cannabis for medical reasons since approximately 4000 BCE.
Scientists started studying the medical benefits of Cannabis in 1533 and in the mid-1950s they were able to extract cannabidiol and show that CBD as opposed to THC has no psychoactive components therefore initiating legal battle for CBD.
As the battle began, by the 1950s legal and financial restrictions started to make cannabis and CBD products difficult to produce, obtain, and sell. Businesses started to avoid the plant in fear of government and/or regulatory action. The result was to make the plant illegal in USA. In 1964, the specific chemical structure of CBD was discovered by Dr. Raphael Mechoulam which initiated further interest to research cannabinoids and the endocannabinoid system in general, furthermore in 1970 American and British cannabis and CBD tincture emerged as a medicinal product.
California was the first state to legalize medical cannabis products in 1996 followed by more states after 2000s.
Can CBD be addictive?
The World Health Organisation, 2017, states that “while the number of human studies into CBD and potential abuse is limited, the evidence from well controlled human experimental research indicates that CBD is not associated with abuse potential.” You can read the full report from the World Health Organisation.

Is CBD legal?
This is a common question, even from those familiar with CBD. The short answer is yes, if it contains 0% THC, comes from a regulated CBD importer and is derived from a legal source such as hemp… which all Naturecan products are. With extensive third-party testing, Naturecan can even guarantee THC level lower than 0.01% which is far below the state-legal levels of 0.3%.

Our oil is a broad spectrum distillate refined from Hemp extract. It is produced in Oregon, West Coast USA.
The product is refined from hemp extracts through two processes: THC removal, and distillation.
Stopping the refinement at distillation allows our products to maintain other photochemicals from the hemp, such as minor cannabinoids; importantly, they are preserved end product.
The product spec of the oil is to contain 87-92% CBD, and also minimum 5% of other additional minor cannabinoids such as CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene), CBDA (Cannabidiolic acid).
This rich mix of other photochemicals (cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenoids), is made using proprietary methodology and technology, this has been developed over many years of research.
To have this mix of photochemicals at this level of potency, whilst removing the THC makes this product one of the most desirable oils on the market.
The CBD compounds act synergistically and, when together, their sum is greater than their individual parts. , facilitating and encouraging ‘the entourage effect’. The entourage effect is the mechanism where CBD compounds act synergistically – the sum of the benefits of parts being greater than that of the individual constituents.

Our producer was the first licenced extractor in California, they are science led, veterans of the cannabis, pharmaceutical and technology industries. Their goal is to constantly push the boundaries of the benefits of this plant through the science of their multi million pound facilities across the West Coast of USA.
As well as the content of the product, it is also one of the safest on the market. Any biomass that enters any of the facilities are tested before it arrives, and all finished product is tested before it leaves. The product is then tested by an independent 3rd party tester to ensure safety and potency. The tests carried out are pesticide, potency, microbial and residual solvents.
Is it a full spectrum oil?
In short, yes. Our distillate is full spectrum. This is in reference to the fact that it contains cannabinoids, terpenoids and other photochemicals from the hemp plant.
However, with the removal of THC we refer to the product as a Broad Spectrum distillate, this is to make absolutely clear that THC has been fully removed.
