10 Easy ways to practice self-reflection

In celebration, we invite you to reflect on not only Naturecan’s journey, but your own.

Some studies suggest that CBD may have a calming effect on the mind, making this the perfect starting point of your self-reflection journey.

What is self-reflection and why is it important?

Self-reflection refers to analysing several parts of your life. Similar to looking at yourself in a mirror, self-reflection focuses on your qualities and traits within.

This is a necessary part of life to ensure that you are on the correct path, and if you are not, it can help you do something about it.

This task can be daunting at first, as many people struggle to face both the good and bad parts of their life. But to make real change, self-reflection is necessary to be the best version of yourself.

The benefits of self-reflection

Aside from getting an idea of what you’ve achieved and how you are as a person, there are many benefits of self-reflection.

Some of these positive impacts include:

  • Better relationships
  • Greater sense of self
  • Stronger decision making skills

Self-reflection in 10 easy steps

1. Journaling

Consistently writing in a journal can not only be therapeutic, but it can be a great way to release your thoughts and feelings.

It is also an excellent way to look back and reflect on any habits you may have formed unknowingly.

2. Take a walk in nature

Being one with nature is proven to improve overall mood. Plus, personal reflection works best in a calming environment, so get some fresh air and clear your mind.

3. Meditation

This will take some time to get used to, but sit in silence for as long as you can and see how your mind wonders. Take a note of what you think of and focus on your breathing.

If you are struggling to relax, take Naturecan’s 10% CBD oil. As mentioned previously, studies suggest that CBD may have a calming effect.

4. Perform breathing exercises

Breathing exercises allow you to steady your heart rate and calm your mind.

This brings you to a calmer state of mind and can help you think more clearly.

5. Read your favourite books

Don’t worry, you aren’t expected to read self-improvement books alone. Pick up whatever genre of book you love most.

Some of the best self-actualizations come from reading fiction novels. That way, you can get a realisation of what you enjoy and what you don’t.

6. Reflect on what you’re grateful for

Taking five minutes at the end of your day to reflect on what you are grateful for can improve your mood and way of thinking overall.

Think of three things you are grateful for at the end of each day and take some time to reflect on these moments.

7. Take up a hobby

Taking up a hobby can help to lift your spirits and make a huge improvement to your mental health.

For example, yoga can help to calm your mind while also improving your flexibility and breathing. In this time, you may find yourself meditating – the perfect time for self-reflection.

8. Therapy

Seeing a therapist is a great way to reflect on past experiences and talk about yourself in a non-judgmental setting.

This can help you dig deeper into who you are and bring on some strong self-reflection.

9. Track your mood

Track your feelings each day through an app or through journaling. After some time, you will start to notice trends in your mood.

Picking up on certain trends in how you react to situations can bring a sense of peace and understanding of why you do what you do.

10. Set realistic goals

After performing these self-reflection actions, setting goals can help you grow.

Where do you want to be mentally and physically in the next three, six or twelve months? Visualise these goals to make them a reality.

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself – assess what will be realistic and set key milestones.

Naturecan’s self-reflection journey

We are proud of how far we have come and how we have grown in the last three years. We have continued to reflect on who we are and how we operate throughout this journey.

Self-reflection has helped us to do our best in everything we do across all aspects of our business.

This has also allowed us to meet ambitious environmental goals, such as planting one tree for every order we receive, having a carbon neutral website, making monthly donations to the World Land Trust, and working towards having a 90% vegan product range.

Self-reflection = self-growth

Bringing self-reflection into your everyday life can bring clarity into every aspect of it. Being completely aware of your strengths and weaknesses can also help you to react better to different situations.

As mentioned earlier, this also can help you to become a better person in every way. Embrace all your qualities and use them to your advantage.

In return, you may become a more secure and fulfilled person, free from fears and insecurities. Self-reflection is a great way to improve your life overall.
